Hey Sole Sister, welcome!I’m Lois. I spent the last half decade traveling the world, going where my itchy soles would take me. I always thought that I would never stop exploring. And while managing a surf resort in Baler, Philippines I met the man who would take me on the ultimate lifetime adventure. We now live between France and Portugal with our toddler and continue to travel, surf and thrive in this new environment.
About This BlogWe Are Sole Sisters started out in 2011 as a travel blog, a place where I, and a sisterhood of women, documented our travels. Today, this blog is reborn to share intimate stories about my life.
This blog is a place where I share about those seemingly trivial things, the ones that few people often notice. I want to tell stories about the things I've seen, the places I’ve been, but more importantly, about the people I’ve met and how they have shaped my world.
But I don’t want to tell you happy lies.
I want to tell you about the things that make me smile but also about the things that break me down. About what it’s like to be a dreamer, traveler, a wife and a mother, striving for that balance between seeking freedom and staying grounded. I want to tell you about that dizzying confusion of being foreign even in places I want to call home.
But this blog isn't just about me. I want to show you how we can shape, change, and reinvent our lives constantly so each day is absolutely new and magical.
I want to go back to the magic of words and their power to transport us to worlds deep within ourselves. Places we’ve never visited. Realms we never knew existed within us.
Most of all I want to feel. Writing, for me, has always been a sensory experience. A way of reliving the past and recreating the future. I invite you to explore, eat, play, thrive, gather and get inspired. This writing is mainly for me.
But now that you're here, sit, have a glass of wine and let’s tell each other stories.
