Welcome Home, Sole Sister!Wednesday, April 19, 2017
When we first started We Are Sole Sisters as a travel blog in 2011, the goal was simple: to experience, document and share our adventures all over the globe. In more 6 years of travel blogging, I had grown to embrace this lifestyle and profession.
But it had also become a job.
And as we all know, when you do something with the primary goal of making money, things start to go downhill from there. What used to excite me began to bore me. I got tired of writing for others, or writing about topics that no longer held my interest.
I began to realize that some things need to be done simply for the act itself, and nothing else. Not to make money, attract more readers, or grab people's attention. To write simply for the love of words and ideas.
I had been tempted to just stop. To simply let go and pat myself on the back and say "Well done, blogging for 6 years is already a feat in itself."
But something was telling me to stay, sit, listen to that inner voice that still wanted to create and tell stories.
This blog has been my home. It's where I place my hopes, dreams and ideas. I've decluttered it a bit, removed all the useless fringes, made it more comfortable for you to stay. It may feel a bit strange for a few minutes. But give it time, it will grow on you.
If you're looking for those old travel articles, don't worry they're still housed here. You can easily find them using the search button. But these are the things that are close to my heart and I would like to share them with you.
This is where I talk about my experiences and reflections. Some sunlight to brighten our day, even when it's cold out, even when things get tough.
My adventures with food- both making them and eating them.
Places I've been. But don't expect any how to guides or where to go's. I just want to share stories, how a place has transformed me or made me feel.
All things fun like playing in water, snow, or mud.
This is where the tough stuff comes in. I want to share about my challenges of being foreign, trying to fit in, raising a multi-cultural child and our life as a family.
I love bringing like minded people and ideas together. This is the space for the events, workshops and retreats that I'll be organizing just for you.
I'm in love with words and foreign words, most especially. I'll be sharing my adventures in learning languages.
