Hong Kong Disneyland Dreams Do Come True

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney

If there's anything I've learned as a child from Disney, it was just that. We can make all of our wildest dreams come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. I held this truth as I child. I dreamt it all. I dreamt of becoming Dumbo, the flying elephant. I dreamt that one day I can truly become a mermaid. That I will eventually grow a tail and fins and swim into the hidden world of the sea. I dreamt of traveling the world with my magic carpet, and living in the clouds. I dreamt of becoming an astronaut and float through the cosmos one day.

When I was a kid I truly believed that it will happen one day. That's what the magic of Disney does to. It will make you believe you can do anything. No matter how many times I go to Disneyland, no matter where it is. I seem to always find my 5-year-old self over and over again.

That's what Lois and I found when we went to Hong Kong Disneyland. We were like children. Amused at all that is Disney. From the Chicken Little and Toy Story alien dumplings to Space Mountain… you found us laughing and giggling as if we were children again and didn't have a care in the world. There is a certain magic to Disney that you can't help but fall under no matter how old you are. It reignites your inner child, always.

We started the trip off with "Flights of Fantasy" parade.

No matter what age you are you can't help but be immersed in the world of Disney characters, the music, the dancing, and the kids beaming at the parade in front of them. You can't help but feel the happiness childhood brings. Lois and I found ourselves giggling especially when our favorite Disney characters come floating by. At this point, we're not adults, our inner child is out to play.

Next was Adventureland where we rode the Jungle River Cruise. I felt like Indiana Jones or something as we floated through the river. From the elephants, to the smoke and fire display, to the tribes, it's almost as if we were lost somewhere in the Amazon jungle for a bit. Our imagination took us there.

Then, Toy Story Land.

I was really excited about this because the Disneyland in California doesn't have it yet. We learned that Toy Story Land is exclusive to Asia. Toy Story is one of my favorite Disney movies so I loved everything about this place. I felt like one of Andy's toys wandering through the pavement and looking at the super sized version of everything around me. There were three new main attractions – RC Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Toy Soldier Parachute Drop.

The Toy Soldier Parachute drop is my favorite ride, you can tell by the screaming and giggle fits Lois and I were having as the butterflies had a rave party in our tummies. We're pretty sure we acted more like little kids than the kid sitting next to us, that's what Disney does to you. Or maybe we'll always be kids at heart… that's definitely the case.

Then we rode the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Grizzly Gulch.

I love roller coasters and this was definitely a fun ride. Lois' laughing and giggling was contagious so again, we were the loudest ones during the ride. But you don't care when you're laughing and having so much fun.

The Golden Mickey's was next.

I actually didn't expect this to be my favorite highlight of my Disneyland trip, but it was. No it's not just the fact that Lois and I were entertained by Tarzan's suspended spinning torso up on stage, no not just that. But it was the well-choreographed dancing, the flying, spinning, jumping, our favorite characters and everything was just so festive. My favorite had to be The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, and Beauty and the Beast. That performance took me into their ethereal world and I was experiencing one of my favorite Disney movies live right before my eyes. It was pretty incredible if you ask me.

As Lois and I were eating at Walt’s Cafe, we talked of everything from relationships to enlightenment. Some of our struggles and our dreams. The frame behind Lois caught my eye. It was an authentic typed letter from Walt Disney about the beginning construction of Disney. In that very second, I got a shot of pure inspiration.

"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse." - Walt Disney

That's where it all began. One mouse. All these movies, characters, stories, fairytale endings, and childhoods forever changed would have never existed if it wasn't for that one tiny source of inspiration that moved Disney to take his first step. The first step that lead him to his dreams. And it changed everything.

That is the magic of Disney. That is the magic of following our dreams.

Staying in this Hong Kong hotel is worth doing. Thousands of travelers visit Disneyland every year but only a fraction of those tourists stay at the Disneyland Hollywood Hotel. This is a real shame because this hotel is loaded with quirky Disney themes a magical ambiance. Any kid (or adult) looking to indulge in fantasy-land and enjoy a fun and exciting trip should definitely check out this enchanted resort.
