If you haven't heard yet, Travel Massive has invaded Manila! Last October 19, 2012 nearly 200 travel professionals, travel bloggers and itchy soled wanderers gathered to hear and share stories from all over the world.

You probably have a bunch of excuses for not going. But we won't hear it. We'll make you jealous instead. Here's a bunch of things you missed during the Travel Massive Manila Launch:

1 Cozy Venue at B-Side, The Collective

The comfy arm chairs, cocktail tables and enthusiastic (read LOUD) crowd made the bar packed to the brim with good vibes! Even before the event started, people started to pour in and a great buzz could be felt in the entire room!

2 Inspiring Stories from all over the world

The theme of the event was Open Mic for Travel Stories. We asked some of our favorite travelers and athletes about their most memorable moments on the road and they got chatty!

Co-founder Ian Cumming opened the event and shared the beginnings of Travel Massive. Travel Massive was started in 2009 in Sydney, Australia by Ian Cumming and Alicia Smith. It started as a casual meeting on a Sydney rooftop bar with a few others from the online travel industry, and within a few months the meetup had grown to a massive event at the Scary Canary bar in Sydney and was attracting international guests and travel CEOs. Travel Massive started to spread around the world with the help of many other amazing people!

Wanderlass Lilliane Cobiao shared her Sugar High – moments in travel when she felt infinite. She shared her unique experience couchsurfing with Bedouins in Jordan. And ended by inviting the audience to share a few moments in her round the world trip through video.

Rock Bottom were moments when you feel you are ready to give in. Journeying James recounted the times when he was penniless and unemployed but still dreamed of travel. How did he overcome obstacles and challenge himself to keep traveling on a lean budget? Read his complete post here.

Then it was the surfers chance to share. Lorraine Lapus of Stoked Inc. shared Adrenaline Rush stories about riding huge waves around the Philippines. While Ziggie Gonzales of The Circle Hostel shared social moments while traveling that inspired him to get into hostel business in the Philippines.

Karen Rigoroso told a few kilig stories about serendipitous encounters with wonderful people on her European and US trips. You can imagine that the rowdy crowd turned classroom-attentive upon hearing the words Hello Cutie. The full deets on Karen's revelations are not available online. Too bad huh?

A lot of travelers and bloggers also shared their stories on the open mic like Aleah and Claire. The event was hosted by Lois of We Are Sole Sisters and and DJ of Dream Euro Trip.

3 Prizes and Giveaways

Travel events won't be complete without games and prizes. We played Guess Which Country for photos and flags as well as Travel Bring Me. We awarded the winners and open mic speakers with free trips from The Circle Hostel and Project Dora and travel gear from R.O.X., Sea to Summit, Spyder Philippines.

4 Free Beer

Overflowing beer for all the attendees was definitely a good draw for the event. Free entrance plus free beer on a Friday night, who could refuse?

5 Priceless Connections

More than any of the 4 previously mentioned, what you really missed were the priceless connections and opportunities for collaboration with travel startups, travel brands, travel professionals, travel bloggers and travel enthusiasts! We spent hours sharing, chatting, laughing and networking! I can imagine Travel Massive Manila will pave the way for future collaboration and travel projects.
