Whenever I'm on vacation I want to be as far away from the city as possible. I want to be so close to nature that I can read, relax and disconnect from the world.

Traveling can be a means of escape.

And who wouldn't want to run away and into these nature-inspired dwellings? Go through these drool-worthy properties and you will be rewarded by a small reveal of my travel plans in the coming months!

Villa in Santorini, Greece

Isn't that view enough to make you break into an Abba song? This unique villa is located at the highest spot of Oia village in Perivolas area. Its amphitheatric position offers fantastic views over the cliff, the village, the beautiful sunset and the volcano- all at the same time! The villa is painted white and combines traditional architecture with minimalist and contemporary design. There is a jacuzzi under a shaded veranda in the main courtyard with a fabulous view to the caldera and the village of Oia.

I'm seriously weeping right now, people!

Loft in wine region of Graz, Austria

Loft in wine region of Graz, Austria

You're looking at a 200 year old "Kellerstöckl" (wine-press) that's been converted into an international award winning house. It's built with two stories, a loft space on the first floor and below it is the original wine cellar with vaulted ceiling.

This place is perfectly situated in a garden overlooking the Alps.

Located in the hamlet of Globeregg, the house is within close proximity to the wineries. Great tasting local red and white wines are available for sale. This is also a fantastic location for those who love the outdoors. You can hike, bike, run, swim and kayak among other activities.

As if that's not enough to get me excited, the price tag comes with a welcome basket. A bottle of wine, homemade marmalade, farmers eggs, freshly baked bread, seasonal fruit, coffee, tea and milk!

Who wouldn't want to live out their Jungle Book dreams at a place like this? This cottage is a traditional wooden Khmer style house built within a lush garden. The room comes with a private balcony in a leafy spot in the garden. I deeply regret not knowing about Roomorama during last year's trip to Siem Reap. I would have loved to stay at this place even just for a night.

We did miss out on the perfect sunset shot because of a little mishap. Maybe I should go back to Cambodia...

Luxurious villa in Ixtapa, Mexico

Luxurious villa in Ixtapa, Mexico

I seriously need to stop drooling at this picture.

This place has the perfect location! It's perched on a rock that opens into an incredible wraparound oceanfront view that stretches into infinity. Because of its unique peninsular location, every room is on the oceanfront! Constructed from cafe au lait colored rock and local wood, the house is cool and welcoming.

Imagine yourself looking at a brilliant sunset every day from the private beach access. Or stepping out into the gardens, pool and ocean and basking in the warm sunshine. Or sipping a margarita in the oceanfront infinity pool. Admittedly, this spot is a little hard to find.

But if you do make it there, you may not want to find your way out again.

Caves with private terraces in Granada, Spain

Caves with private terraces in Granada, Spain

Who wants to spend their vacation cooped up in a cave? I would- if it's this cave house located in the picturesque and traditional town of Monachil, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Monachil has a rich cultural life and offers a variety of outdoor activies such as paragliding, mountain biking, trekking and rock climbing. There are also many bars and restaurants with great tapas and a fun atmosphere.

I may just get a chance to stay at this cave house.

In July this year, I'm heading to Spain to run with the bulls and 4 other fearless female travelers.
