Lois has always been an advocate of minimalism, accidental or otherwise. Chichi also learned that when it comes to material possessions, you gotta: Keep, Give or Sell. Keep the ones which you absolutely love and can’t live without. Sell or give away the rest. And that's exactly what we're doing on October 1st! We're GIVING AWAY our stuff. Well, for a low low price that is.
This coming Saturday, we're having a TRAVELER'S GARAGE SALE at 88 Payna St. Veterans Village Project 7, Quezon City from 9AM-5PM. Here's how to get there:
Fom South:
Just follow the MRT till you reach SM North Edsa Station. Continue to left and take the first U-Turn. Take U-turn then right to Bansalangin Street (landmark: MiniStop). Turn left at the first intersection till you reach the dead end then turn right. Count 3 houses and you're there!
From North:
Just follow the LRT till you reach Roosevelt Station. Continue straight till you reach Bansalangin Street (in front of SM Annex) and turn right (landmark: MiniStop). Turn left at the first intersection till you reach the dead end then turn right. Count 3 houses and you're there!
If you're directionally challenged (like the Sole Sisters), here's the map:

This Garage Sale will help support travelers who are about to go on EPIC journeys. Here's some of the featured travelers, their stories and what are up for grabs:

Paul of www.walkflypinoy.com is a twenty-something Filipino born and bred in the big chaotic capital of Manila in the Philippines. I am a Spanish translator and will continue to be one, only freelance this time, while I embark on the biggest adventure of my life thus far.
My Story:
I had a travel dream I had many years ago. I dreamt that I'd get a scholarship to study in Europe and make it my jump-off point to explore the rest of the world. Sadly, that never happened. After every failure, I grew frustrated. The stars just never lined up.
I started doing small trips here and there. Then I started planning my own travels. That was when I realized that I never really needed a scholarship. The fulfillment of my dreams does not and should not depend on anybody else other than myself. I got tired of wishing. I took matters into my own hands. So I decided to backpack Asia for six months. I am doing it because travel is one thing I’ve been sure about, something I’ve been chasing for a long time now. At this point in my life, anything else is just unthinkable.
Items to Sell:
Shirts, Jackets, Books, Bags, Footwear, Printer Ink
Angelica of http://www.anggeturns26.com/ is an accidental traveller and a (soon to be ex) banker who is slowly making her dreams come true. I am quitting my job this September. My work, for the past five years, has been defining my whole life. Now is the time to take risks and to make one of my travel dreams come true!
My Story:
Being a traveler was not on my 'what-I-want-to-be-when-I-grow-up' list. I worked hard to become the person other people wanted me to be. But I became unhappy. It was an afternoon in 2008 that eventually lead me to reassess the life that I've been living. I almost drowned when I got towed by an underwater current. I promised myself that I will give more importance to the people and experiences that make me genuinely happy.
I made the decision to pursue happiness. I finally quit the job that has been taking over my life. I saved up and prepared for a major trip- to experience India, see the Himalayas, and backpack Southeast Asia. Traveling has not only introduced me to a better life, it has also taught me more about myself and my capabilities. And if you've found something like this, you should always make a conscious effort to pursue it and live it.
Items to Sell:
Shoes and bags, but mostly books.
Jonna of http://www.thebratpacker.com is a certified BRATpacker- not as shabby as the backpacker, but not as privileged as the jetsetter.
My Story:
"33 Places at 33: 100 Days Away From Home" is my first take on long-term travel. I'm targetting to go to 9 ASEAN member countries to experience different cultures, marvel at each place's beauty, and do some volunteer work along the way. This would probably be the most meaningful celebration of adding a year to my life :)Items to Sell:
Havaianas, sunglasses casual and office clothes, bags, luggage
Karen of tipsntravels.blogspot.com is a software developer, a non-regular runner, a verified couchsurfer, a frustrated singer and a travel writer.
My Story:
I'm planning to do a career break next year for three months from June to August of 2012. I want to take a career break, visit my sister and some friends on the cities I plan to drop by and also to finally fulfill my dream to travel around Europe!
Items to Sell:
DVDs, Canon camera, sunglasses
Ralf of www.myfootprintsmylife.com is one of the Filipinos we've met in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He's one of the couchsurfers who have welcomed us to this adventure-filled city.
I was diagnosed with a health condition called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) back in February 2010. I was told that I am at risk of chronic myelogenous leukemia. Doctors suggested I undergo treatment immediately (chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant) but could not guarantee even a 50% chance of eradicating the conditions. I was alone when the doctors gave the news and it wasn't easy: I thought I'm dying really soon. I went through the stage of denial and just went on with my life.
I realized that I have limited time and decided to see the world while I still can. I suddenly feel the urge to see the places I have only seen in movies and read in books. Instead of spending money for treatment, I decided to go traveling. First stop is Europe: 35 Countries in 12 months non-stop traveling. I will do couchsurfing and hitchhiking on a limited budget of 400 Euros a month. This adventure will be my legacy to the people I've met in my lifetime.
Items to Sell:
Thailand Goodies
These are just some featured travelers who will be participating in TRAVELER'S GARAGE SALE on Oct 1st. And although this sale is from travelers, it doesn't mean it's all travel stuff! There will be photography equipment, fashion steals and even basketball shoes!
I will also be selling my North Face 45L Terra backpack since I want to get a smaller one. (A girl doesn't need so much in her backpack, after all) I will also sell old clothes, bags and camera bag. The proceeds will go to a 21 DAY PHILIPPINE CHALLENGE that Chichi and I are planning soon.
It's not enough for us to inspire and encourage others to travel. We want to enable more Filipinos to go out there and see the world. It will be the best education you can ever give yourself. This is our small way of helping travelers KICKSTART their adventure. (But we probably won't be able to issue receipts from a Epson TM-T88V.)
Please join us and get yourself a few things. It will help a Filipino traveler get closer to their dream of traveling the world! Check out the items for sale here. Sign up here: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=175172119228161
See you on Saturday,
Sole Sister Lois
We know you couldn't be with us on September 10th - You were busy saving old women and crying babies from a burning building. We hold no grudges on our end. As a sign of peace and forgiveness, we share with you the videos from season 1. Just as we promised, these women will make you want to pack your backs and leave right now.
Like all great things, the Sole Sister Travel Photo Exhibit and Travel Talk series started out as an idea.
We were in Myanmar and were considering whether we should still go back to the Philippines. What should we do with tens of thousands of photos and 6 months worth of travel learning? By then,we had completed our transformation from being glam, luxury travelers to being budget conscious, independent poorpackers. Our aim for this project is simple: To share our stories and lessons learned on the road in the hope of encouraging more Filipinos to have itchy soles and travel the world!
Ok, this time we're convinced that aliens were involved.
An out-of-the-world aircraft landed on your backyard and just as you went out of the house, a figure who looked a lot like Jar Jar Binks abducted you. You're now somewhere beyond the realm of the Milky Way.
We figured that IS the only logical explanation why YOU weren't with us last night for session 2 of Sole Sister's Travel Photo Exhibit: From Glampacker to Poorpackers.
Last week you were inspired by these women who encouraged you to pack your bags and travel your heart out. This time, the boys (together with the Sole Sisters) will show you how it can be done. If you enjoyed last Saturday's event with Americano dancing, games, laughter, fun prizes and awesome hosts, then you will definitely want to do it again. We'll even make it more interesting and much more FUN! Here are the topics to be presented:
Journeying James: 10 Kuripot Tips for Backpackers

How's that for a travel resume? He's a regular contributor to PAL's Mabuhay magazine and Cebu Pacific's Smile and was featured on 'Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho' Summer Special.
Estan Cabigas: Let Your Photos Tell Your Travel Story

You probably were stuck inside the elevator in between the 33rd and the 34th floor for 24 hours. There might have been a great flood, the likes of which have never been seen since the time of Noah, just as you were about to leave your house. You saw a burning building on the way to the event... and you couldn't turn your back from the screaming women and children trapped inside.
You might have even incurred a slight concussion causing you to forget that September 10th was the BIGGEST DAY in the Sole Sister world.
Those scenarios are the only ones we could think of to explain why YOU weren't with us on the first day of the Sole Sister's Travel Photo Exhibit: From Glampacker to Poorpackers.

Here's a sneak peek:

Roomarama will be giving away $100 worth of credit!
What in the world is Poorpacking?
This is a new kind of travelling – flying in the face of conventions, traversing all kinds of boundaries, making journeys to little-known places away from the tourist treadmill. The Sole Sisters went in search of other worlds that appear both familiar and different, building bridges across seemingly divided worlds.
They did not travel across countries, rather they travelled into them – into their societies. They did not have a fixed itinerary but respected the natural evolution of the journey, guided by events, curiosity, intuition. And as they travelled in their independent, resourceful, open way with the freedom to imagine – what they dub “poorpacking” – they created a wonderful collection of subjective impressions, through images and the written word.

So are you one of us?
What is Glampacking?
This is the stylish kind of travel. It's backpacking with a slightly healthier budget. These kinds of travelers won’t sacrifice their cute clothes and hairdryers while backpacking. They try and keep it glamorous. Sometimes, they have all inclusive holidays to relax and pamper themselves. They love to be pampered, actually. They are bubbly, energetic, fun and make new friends wherever they go.

Sole Sister Lois & Chichi
It was Lois who came up with the 'great' plan. The other half of the Sole Sister duo was vehemently opposed to the idea. In fact, it took her quite a while to convince Chichi. It took even longer to settle on the terms and conditions of the challenge; especially, with the amount of bhat we could spend in one of the largest markets in the world, the Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, Thailand.
