21 Day Pilipinas Challenge : Promote Your Hometown

21 Day Pilipinas Challenge

Ever since we started telling people we're going on a 21 Day Challenge around the Philippines without flights, we've gotten so many emails and messages. Everyone wants their hometown to be part of the trail! 21 days will simply not be enough to go around so many beautiful places in this country. That's for sure. The challenge is to create an itinerary that includes the best of the best that the Philippines has to offer.

So let's put our minds together. If you had only 21 days to go around the Philippines, where would you go and why? We're posing this question to every Filipino. Let us know the places we should visit, why we should go there and what are the sights to see and things to do.

Why should your heavenly piece of paradise be part of the 21 Day Trail?
We all know that the Philippines is not exactly on the banana pancake trail, right? It's being skipped by a lot of travelers for 2 common reasons: That it's a major archipelago and it poses a major travel challenge of badly linked airports and multiple flights. Second, we only give a short 21 day visa for foreign nationals- 9 days short from what our Southeast Asian counterparts provide.

Come on, even Myanmar gives 30!

So why don't we make our own trail? Let's showcase the beauty of the Philippines by promoting our hometown. Participate in this challenge by posting a photo from your hometown on our facebook wall and a few words to describe the place. Promote your hometown by telling us why we should include it in the 21 Day Pilipinas Challenge! We'll post the best entries on the blog next week and credit you for your words and pictures.

Show your Pinoy Pride by promoting your hometown to the world!

Pinay and Proud,
The Sole Sisters

17 sole trails:

Hey Girls, come down south! Try Sorsogon! I am raised in Camarines Sur but I haven't been to the paradises of Sorsogon - that's a sad fact. I know I am missing a lot and I am working to get a share of its beauty. Here is a link a cousin of mine came across with in yahoo.sg. Please check this and I would love to hear your first hand accounts. Bicol is such a treasure! :D

Oooo I love this - I'll upload in a bit. I just got back from Negros so I definitely have pictures to share!

And also, this challenge just makes me wish we had those month-long bus (or ship!) passes that Japan or other countries have. Actually, I take that back, I might go broke!

Cavite is my hometown... but if would suggest, please include eastern visayas... it's one of the most underated spots in the Philippines... Have fun Sole Sisters! :)

Sorsogon is one of my hometown. Since you will be traveling on January, it's a perfect season to spot Butandings! When I saw whale sharks right infront me, I knew I will have to see them again (I'm even willing to repeat the experience 10 times more =) ). THE BEST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD!!!!!!!

Oh, don't forget your underwater camera! :)

Thanks so much for sharing this Aiza! Looks like it's really promising. Definitely considered for the 21 Day Pilipinas challenge itinerary.

Yes, those ships would be sooo great! I wish the same. Yes Yols please share your hometown photos on our facebook page. Would love to see those.

Thanks for dropping by Mervz. Where in Eastern visayas exactly? We would love to explore visayas more than the usual touristy sights..

Thanks Nina!!! I'm so excited for this one. Definitely on the list! Please post photos on our facebook para mas egzoiting!!! Weeeeh can't wait!

I would recommend Marabut in Samar for the tiny islets... then Canigao Island in Leyte... and also Tinago Falls in Biliran... enjoy po! :)

Go to Bukidnon! You've been to more than few beaches in the country so this time, why not explore a land-locked province with no less than SIX mountain ranges? Mountaineering certain fits the "challenge" part of your trip. :P

It's home to Mt. Dulang-Dulang, the second highest peak in the Philippines. The forest cover and biodiversity of that mountain is amazing. The province also has an abundance of caves, waterfalls and hiking trails. Photo: view from the summit of Mt. Dulang-Dulang http://nagbabasangpinoy.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/212.jpgSorry, I don't have a Facebook account (yes, I live under a rock) so I'll just post this here if you don't mind. :D

How about Romblon? There are several hidden beaches there which you can explore. Visit Cantingas River which is arguably the cleanest river in the country, trek in Mt. Guiting-guiting which is considered to be one of the most challenging mountains to climb, dine in good restaurant in Romblon, Romblon and explore the town historical landmarks.

I might blog about the places in Romblon that are worth visiting. Soon. ;p

Hahaha... love your comment about living under a rock. you should seriously consider fb btw ;-) Thanks for posting the beautiful photo and sharing Bukidnon. You are the nth person to recommend this place... hmmm we are seriously considering it even though we never thought of Bukidnon in the first place.

Thanks so much!

wow! Another underrated Philippine destionation. Thanks for sharing this Mach. Please share your Romblon post once it's up. We might just include it on the list :-)

The Baguio-Sagada-Bontoc-Ifugao route would definitely click for those who love to hike and climb.  Going to Baguio is much easier now with those non-stop buses, and nights can be used for travel, saving on the waking hours for exploring.  Going to sagada takes a half day, but they can see beautiful scenery along the way and engage with people while on the road.  Sagada to Bontoc is just 45 minutes away by jeep.  Bontoc is teeming with interesting spots too.  Sagada-Bontoc takes about 2 hours by jeep or bus.  Ifugao-Manila can be done by night. So this itinerary would save them daytime that can be better used for exploring.  from one place to another.

Thanks so much for this Ding! We'll definitely consider Sagada for our itinerary. Just hope we have enough time to travel there.

Have you guys visited Davao City? This place has lot more to offer to you. Nature Parks (Crocodile Park, Eden Nature Park and Malagos Garden), Beaches (Pearl farm, buenavista island, Canibad-I would recommend this one) and you can go for adventure too... Try river rafting, wakeboarding and island trekking in Samal... I am sure you would come to love Samal Island. Lots of beautiful beaches plus you'll get to see Monfort Bat cave and hagimit falls..

It's not enough for a comment box to write all the places you could visit here in Davao, LOL...
